My little paradise..

Let's go take a look at my little paradise, know as, the garden.
It was a lot of work prepping for this garden! I
hate how you put some much work into it and weeds always tend to mess it up! - Grrr weeds! I spent two days cleaning it up, and let me just say, it wasn't easy.. pulling weeds, getting eaten up by bugs, and having the sun beat on me.
(I will post pictures before and after pictures once all the plants start growing and producing).
So far I have:
Kale,
Tomatoes,
Dill,
Cilantro, (that I moved and possibly murdered, oops).
Grapes,
&
Blueberries.

What I planted:
Cucumber,
Cantaloupe,
Two types of Watermelon,
Zucchini,
Squash,
Beans,
Okra,
Sunflowers,
and two other types of flowers (I think the birds got a hold of them though, cause they are sprouting anything).

Here are just a few pictures I took the other night as the sun was going down.

Do you a garden?
What's in your garden?
If you don't have a garden, what would you want to grow?

Beauty Home Remedies

We all love home remedies, am I right?
These are a few that I found to get you through these winter months.
Most of the ingredients for these remedies can be found in your own kitchen.
I'm definitely going to try the Coffee Bean and Cucumber remedy!

To hydrate dry skin use: Honey
Squeeze a dime-size dollop of honey into palms, blend it with your regular face wash, and use the mixture to give your face a deep facial. For a body wash, use a walnut-size dollop of honey.

Soothe puffy eyes: Chamomile Tea
Steep two chamomile tea bags in warm water, then place in refrigerator to cool. Squeeze excess fluid from tea bags and place over tired eyes for 5 minutes.

Quench parched locks:  Avocado
To make a nutrient-packed hair mask, mash an overripe avocado and mix in an egg yolk and 2 Tbsp. of olive oil. Massage into damp hair, wrap under towel and leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse, shampoo and condition your hair as usual.

Smooth and exfoliate:  Coffee Beans
Dip a wet washcloth into leftover coffee grounds and massage into damp skin from neck down to slough off dead skin. Concentrate on cellulite prone areas like thighs to tighten skin.

Revive tired skin: Cucumber
Puree 1 small cucumber in blender, then add 3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour. Stir until mixture is thick and pasty. Apply to clean, dry face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

As simple as that!

What are some of your special remedies you like to use?
I would love to hear about them!

Bull Grape Kinda Morning...

That's right, here in the South, the Bull Grapes, also known as Muscadines, are in season! Thankfully we have a few Grapes Vines of our own along our garden, so we have plenty of them. But a about a week ago, we did stop and get a few pounds in Charleston off of Hwy. 17 at the Muscadine Farm. You can't go wrong with these little guys that come in all sorts of Varieties, you have the tart tasting, the sweet, the really sweet.. you have them in Green, Purple, Golden.. and they are all tasty!
Note to self: they do have seeds, so watch out!

Let's talk Peaches, remember how I went Peach picking? Well.. let's just say, there are more then enough Peaches! So you have my mum slicing them, putting them in the freezer; then you have my dad eating some, my brother, and myself, and then here I am making a smoothie! I just threw in a little Peaches, Banana's, Milk, ice, and ta da!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Nothing is better then a Peach Smoothie on a hot summer day!

You can meet me under the Oak Tree...

Let's make some southern Lemonade...
I love cutting up a few lemons, squeezing the juice out, pouring the juice into a pitcher, adding a few spoon-fulls of sugar, and throwing in some lemon wedges for extra taste!
Yummm!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
And since we are talking about the whole Southern thing, let's not forget some fresh Succotash!
Farmer's Market fresh veggies like Okra, Tomatoes, Yellow Squash, and Lima Beans!

What's your favorite Southern Dish?

Barefoot Blue Jean Night- Jake Owen.

We were caught up in a southern summer blue jean night...

Don't you just love summer..
I sure do. The one thing I love the most is all the tasty fruits and veggies you get to pick from your own backyard early in the morning!
As you all know, I am crazy for Berries! And this morning that's what I was craving.
So I grabbed my camera, a little bowl, and headed outside to pick me some little blue guys.
Nothing is tastier then fresh Berries and French Vanilla Yogurt, mmmm!

"All I ever wanted was to see you smiling"..-Basshunter

What you eat shows up on your face, and if it doesn't show up on yours, then in sure does show up on mine.
___________
Lately, I have started getting the worse acne, I have no idea where it's coming from! It's all over my forehead, which I'm hoping it's just sweat bumps, but it looks very unhealthy, and might I add, gross.. I have been working out a lot, and I usually tend to wash my face right before I work out, and I swab toner on it after the work out, so that way my pores don't clog. So what is causing this disaster? Well, I'm going to try eating better, that means eating tons of fruits & veggies, drinking tons of water, eating yogurt or Organic apple sauce when I crave something sweet, and laying off on the sugar! -and taking my Fish Oil, and Vitamin E.
___________
Let's see if that will change it, I sure hope it does! I never ever get acne, and if I do, it's one or two pimples, not all over my forehead, and hairline. If you have any advice on what you do to keep a clean, pimple-free face, please share! And for those of you that are like me, try these great Antioxidants from Self Magazine!

Blueberries- Eating the sweet treat increases circulation, resulting in glowing skin.
Kiwi- The fuzzy fruit serves up skin-smoothing vitamin E and helps banish blemishes.

Mushrooms- They're a top source of skin-saving B vitamins and may short-circuit sun damage.

Oranges- Citrus-rich lotions speed up cellular turnover, enhancing radiance.

Spinach- The water-rich veggie attacks blemishes and hydrates skin from the inside out.

Walnuts- Their oils protect skin from environmental hazards and boost skin.

Strawberries- The bold berry is rich in collagen-firming vitamin C and lightens skin spots.

Love ♥

I'm in love with Fruit 2 Day, in the Mango Peach flavor! I first tried these simply amazing drinks at a Grand Opening at Publix in Florida, they had samplers everywhere, and this drink just happen to be one- it was a sign! I just love it! Two come in a pack (And there is always a coupon inside the pack), when there on sale at my Publix I buy at least three 0r more packs! They are great for breakfast, just a quick drink, and your on your way out the door, or you can drink it while on the way to work! I really love the Mango Peach flavor, but the Strawberry and Orange is good, too. They also have a new flavor, which is Cherry Grape, but I can't find it anywhere.. Did I mention it's a drink, with real fruit bits in every sip! It's 100% juice, all natural, no sugar added, and only 120 calories! If you see them at your grocery store, grab it, and just drink it on the way home, you will looooove it!

It's something your Thankful for..

Nothing like fresh picked blueberries right outside your door! Yes, I have four blueberry bushes outside; near the garden, and right now, they are in season.. and I'm loving them! Along with my Frosted Flakes I eat in the morning :) Blueberries are one of my favorite fruits to eat! They are perfect for cereal, pancakes, blueberry muffins, in a salad, a yummy smoothie, or just to hand pick and eat right there as a snack!
