"On the way to work they might stop by a fishin' hole, cause that's how country boys roll.."-Billy Currington

Don't you just hate getting such great pictures, but you hate the mat around the picture?
I have a little story for you all to hear-
Well my mum wanted to get rid of this really pretty picture of Wood Pigeons.. she just said it didn't match in the hall way, with all the other pictures.. well no wonder, the mat is an ugly blue color, with tiny hearts on it! -What in the world was something thinking when they framed this picture, like really? ..
So I took the picture, grabbed a few tools, opened the back of the picture, and thought I could just change out the mat, well turns out someone glued the mat to the picture, sooo that meant I had to paint the mat a different color. I first tried a Cottage White color, but you could still somehow see those little hearts, so I went with an Antique Gold color, and ta da! It came out the way I wanted! It kinda makes the frame look bigger, but it's an illusion - and it works for me!

What do you think? Do you like those tiny little hearts,
or do you like it done in Antique Gold?

Change is good..

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Hello ladies,
I just wanted to show you the color I'm painting my walls.. the name of it is Natural.
I have all four of my bedroom walls painted. But I don't want to post pictures yet, I still have the trim, and the ceiling to paint. (Oh boy). I had to mud yesterday, then I added the first coat of paint, when I woke up this morning, I noticed some more nics in the wall, so I had to re-mud, then paint again! It's such a long project, but it's well worth it! I love the color, it's so cozy, instead of that awful cold white I had before.. Did I tell you guys that for Christmas my parents bought me all new bed stuff? That's right, they got me a white duvet cover; that feels amazzzzing, they got new sheets and pillow cases, two new striped throw pills, a dust ruffle, andddd a fabulous headboard! -All from Ikea- Oh and they got me the cutest painting by Pablo Picasso! I can't wait to show you all after I'm finished!

This here dog, is named Max... he always loves to be right next to me. Unfortunately he does not move once he finds a place to lie down, so while I'm painting, I have to move everything around him.. myself, which takes a little bit of time. -damn dog. He's lucky he's cute while he's sleeping. -and oh look, he even has his own little pillow to prop his head on.

Somethings just need a little change..

So our kitchen is really white, the walls, the ceiling (that's still being done), the cabinets, and the doors. So I thought hey, let's do something a little different and fun! Let's add a chalkboard! I went to Lowes and picked up a little thing of paint -It's under $15.00- came home, took a long board and placed it up against the door, took a pencil and marked the length and width I wanted it, taped it out, and began painting! Max did nothing but sit there and watch.. useless pup, at least he's cute. Later on I realized I needed chalk so I went to K-Mart (haven't been there in nearly a decade), found sidewalk chalk on sale and grabbed it, went home and drew one of my favorite sayings, and ta da! It's done, and it looks great!

So what do you think about chalkboards?

Grab it, save it, paint it, love it!

My dad found this buoy while fishing awhile back, and I thought it would look a lot better if it were painted, like some of the other buoys we have. So I decided to grab the Acrylic paint, a few paint brushes, a sanding pad, and head outside to paint! I wanted it to match the other buoys we have so I went with the colors: Apricot, Harvest Orange, and Banana. It turned out to be really easy, you should try it! If you want to try it all you have to do is- find yourself a buoy, the older the better! If you live anywhere near a marsh, just look along it and you'll see some that have floated off crab-pots. (Don't go take anyone's buoy though!) if you can't find any in the river, just go to your local Marina Store or anywhere that sells stuff for boats. They are usually under $15.
Then your going to need some acrylic paint, which can be found at Wal-Mart, Michaels, or any art supply place.
Just a plain paint brush will do.
And a sanding pad.
Start off by sanding the buoy-
Then paint your stripes however you want. (I did mine kinda wide).
After you are done painting the 'colored' stripes, go ahead and paint your white stripes.
After it dries, go ahead and sand it one more time, the sanding gives it a used looked, if you don't want to sand it, you don't have to. I just like mine to look like they have been used.
And Ta Da!

Almost a dollar.

For some reason blogger wasn't working yesterday- which made me kind of mad, cause I wanted to show you all some of the things we found yesterday while we were Garage Saling. So I guess I will just have to post them today! We haven't really been Garage Saling in a while cause it's just so hot no one wants to have any, but the ones we did go to we found a couple of: Dvd's for only a $1. I haven't seen the Tooth Fairy, but I did watch Chuck and Larry! (It was really funny). We also found two handmade bird house's for only a $1! I found two dresses for only a $1.. which I can't post cause they are getting washed. The only things that weren't a dollar were these two pieces of art work, which were $5! It was still a deal! I love them, the ones with the pumpkin's we are going to use as a display in the fall and the flower one is going in my 'someday' Florida Key's home! I also went to the Farmer's Market, got some tasty okra, and three watermelons.. which were a little too ripe :(

What a cock!

I'm really loving these rooster's paintings that are selling on eBay! They are so artsy, and colorful.. they would be perfect in my future Florida Key's home.. *dreams*. My mom actually surprised me with the one up top! I told her to bid on it, and if it went higher then twenty, I didn't want it. Unfortunately, it went higher, by what me mom said. Well when we were looking on eBay the next day, she was like "what did that one painting look like that you wanted", and I replied .. "I don't know, it's too late to go back and check". Then she showed me the seller's past history, and there was the rooster painting I wanted; with my mom's name as the winner! I had a pretty big smile on my face! :D She's so sneaky.. But here is some more artsy roosters.

Etsy

I found a new site last night, while I was flipping through some old Domino magazines. It's called Etsy, "Your place to buy & sell all things handmade".I know its been around for awhile, (My mom told me she has known of it for quite some time). But it's new to me, and I love it! Once I came to the site, I just couldn't get off! If you don't know what Etsy is then I will tell you, it is an online marketplace for buying & selling all things handmade. It has anything you want! Anywhere from art, to jewelry, accessories, holiday, pets & much more. Im in love.. I love handmade stuff, it's so much better then stuff made in China. It's more valuable in my eyes cause someone took the time to make it. I don't mind paying a little more, for better made stuff. Im going to post some pictures of the things that caught my eye.The Matte Gold Leaf and... Flowers Necklace is $26.00 & the Gold and Turquoise ...Filigree Necklace is $29.00.
penguin with red scarf...is $20.00 (but that is for only one).
Oscar the Owl
is $15.00. The
Wine Country Dressis $240.00 and the
Lemon Drop Dressis $395.00. Both of the watercolor paintings of the collie and lab are $25.00 (this seller makes art work to help rescued animals). There is soo much stuff I would like to post but I don't have the room. I think you should really check the site out. You will love it, especially if you love handmade things like I do.

The dogs paintings are my favorite :)
