Lowcountry Inshore Slam

So turns out, I'm back in Beaufort, spending a few weeks with the family.
Trying to enjoy the last few weeks of this lovely warm weather.
Being out on the river is something that I need, I long for, I have saltwater in my blood... being away from it really hurts, it's just depressing.
So being here, right now, is just reviving me!
Since I've been here, I have gone out on the river, swimming on private beaches, fishing inshore, fishing the channels..  I love fishing. The one fish I have yet caught, is a southern favorite, it's known as the Red Fish, Red Drum, or Spot Tail Bass. My brother has taken me out a handful of times, but I never seem to catch that fish. But today I finally hooked my first one! It was small, but it meant so much, size doesn't matter in this case! After releasing it, a few minutes later I hooked up with this big beauty below! It was gorgeous! I couldn't believe my eyes when I hooked it! It was fun reeling it in! When I got it on the platform of the boat, I was all smiles! The feeling of catching a Red Fish is like no other, the adrenaline is crazy, you just don't want to stop hooking them. Releasing that beauty, was one of the best feelings, I hope that others will have the same experience as I did. I also caught a little Flounder. All I needed to hook was a Trout, and it would have been an inshore slam all in one day!
My brother on the other hand hooked a good size Trout, it was slightly purple, with tons of spots, such a beautiful fish.
Today was such an amazing day, I am so grateful to have caught these fish, spend time with my brother, be out on the saltwater, and watch the Carolina sun set.

This one's for you Lou

This one is for Loulu,
he would have wanted us to take this Monday off to celebrate his going away.
So we did..
We drove out to a private beach far away, where not many people go.
We set up the umbrella, layed out the chairs, turned on some beats, put on some SPF, grabbed a wine cooler, and settled down in the sun for some nice relaxation time.
My dad went on a long beach walk with Max.
Nick threw sand, and mud at me. (Of course I threw it back, there we were acting like kids again..).
Mum actually layed out, and got a little sun.
A boat pulled up close by, they were two drunk older people, listening to some oldddddies, and dancing, having a good ol' time. Another boat pulled up later on around the bend, they were really quiet.
After dad got back from his, what seemed to be three hour walk, mum and I ventured off..
It was nice walking the long, quiet beach, just being in nature is a great place to be.
As we were walking back around the bend, then sun was going down, the Ghost Crabs were coming out, the waves were slightly crashing.. and there was Nick running with Max.
We all watched the sun go down, so pretty.. just what we all needed after this weekend.
I miss you Loulu..

Sunday out on the river..

Even though this was a sad weekend for the family, we decided to make the best of it.
After my brother got back from his girlfriends Easter Party, we all went out on the river. We went to this little island with a beach called Cotton Island. As soon as we got there Nick and Britt (girlfriend), of course got into mud.. mum and I walked the beach, and dad went and picked up trash! What a great man my daddy is! After mum and I walked, we found a spot on the sand, and just sat down and watched the sun set.. it was so relaxing. After Nick and Britt finished playing in the mud, they went swimming, and then I made them take pictures. Of course I had to get a in a few of them. My brother always hates taking pictures, but he's so good at it.
As we were all sitting there, Nick found a crab, he named him Tudu.. he was soo sweet! He put him on my mum, and Tudu started crawling on her.. mum kinda didn't like that very much.. so he put Tudu back in his hole. Once dad came back with a big bag of trash, it was time to set off back home. The air was warm, just like the bath water that was below my feet, the stars were white, and twinkling, the salt air was breathtaking, I loved it. That moment was perfect.

Memorial Weekend!

How was every one's Memorial weekend? Mine was a lot of fun! As you can see by these pictures, I went to Charleston with my parents and ate a really tasty Greek salad, I went on the sandbar, beach, watched amazing sunsets, saw Sex and the City 2 again, with my beautiful mother, and just had a really relaxed weekend.
